I´ ve got mail! (again)

Me llegó correo (¡otra vez!)

This past week I received a little package, I rarely get mail, so I was so exited, and even more because I´ve just received Kate´s pin a little while ago, (remember?). This one is from Andrea of the PaperSparrow blog! She sent me lovely little gifts, and they really made my day(:
I participated on her awesome Cat Party! with the Cat brooch tutorial, remember?
She has become one of my favorite bloggers. I love her outfits posts, her work, and of course her blog parties! If you don´t know her yet you should definitly visit her lovely blog, you won´t regret it(;

La semana pasada recibí un pequeño paquete, casi nunca recibo correo, así que estaba muy emocionada, y más aún porque acababa de recibir el pin de Kate hace poco, (¿recuerdan?). Éste me lo mandó Andrea, del blog de Papersaparrow. Me mandó pequeños regalos muy lindos, que en verdad me alegraron el día(:

Anillo de flor de encaje

  

What you´ll need:

 Lo que vas a necesitar: 

 * fieltro

 * alambre plano

 * un botón

 * en encaje

 * pinzas de corte y de punta redonda

 * hilo y aguja

 * tijeras

 1.- Cut two pieces of felt (mesure them with you ring finger;) then sew them together using the blanket stitch.

Corta dos piezas de fieltro (midelas con tu dedo anular;) Luego coselas usando la puntada de manta (no se si así se llame en español :p)

2 & 3.- You will have to leave space so you can introduce the flat wire between the two pieces of felt.Then finish sewing. It should look as it's hown in step 3.

Tendrás que dejar espacio para poder introducir el alambre entre las dos piezas de fieltro. Después termina de coser. Se debe ver como se muestra en el paso 3.

4.- Use the round nose pliers to make the shape of the ring.

 Usa las pinzas de punta redonda para darle forma al anillo.

 5.- This is the way it should look(;

Así es como debe verse(;

6.- Take a little piece of lace and give it the shape of a flower. 
Toma un pedacito de encaje y dale la forma de una flor.
7 & 8.-  It will be easier if you sew it at the same time that you are giving the shape. It should look  as shown in step 8 (or at least similar:p).
Será mucho más fácil si mientras le das la forma lo vas cosiendo al mismo tiempo. Deberá de quedar como en la imagen 8. (o al menos algo parecido:p)

9.- Take the button of your choice and sew it in the middle of the lace flower.

Tome el botón de tu elección y coselo en el centro de la flor de encaje.

10.- Sew the flower to the ring(:

 Cose la flor al anillo.

Lace flower ring, Done!

Taking Pictures

Tomando Fotos

I am by no means, what I consider to be, a professional photographer. However I am very passionate about it and I do spend a lot of my time doing and looking at things that are related to taking pictures. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that most people when they talk to me about photography, either they want their picture taken or a lot of times, they want to learn a little more about learning to take photographs themselves. 
No soy de ninguna manera, lo que yo considero una fotógrafa profesional. Sin embargo me apasiona mucho la fotografía y sí paso mucho tiempo haciendo y viendo cosas que tienen que ver con tomar fotos. De cualquier manera, lo que quiero decir es que la mayoria de la gente cuando quiere hablar de fotografía normalmente quieren que es tomen fotos o quieren aprender un poco acerca de como tomar fotos ellos mismos.

With some of my friends I have gone into the basic details of how a camera works, what you can achieve with different techniques and stuff, but after that I usually say what anyone will say anytime you want to learn something new. Do it. Practice all the time, do it over and over.

But after that, when you already know the basics, and when you know what you want to photograph or what kind of pictures you want to take, I find incredibly helpful to learn a little about the things that happen behind the lens, to photographers I admire. How they work, what inspiration they get from different things and their daily life. 
Con algunos de mis amigos he hablado de los detalles básicos de como funciona una cámara y lo que puedes lograr con distintas técnicas y cosas, pero después de eso lo que suelo decir es lo que cualquiera te diría cuando quieres empezar a aprender algo nuevo. Hazlo. Practica todo el tiempo, hazlo una y otra vez.
Pero después de eso, cuando ya sabes lo básico y cuando ya sabes que tipo de fotos quieres tomar y a qué, yo encuentro muy útil el aprender sobre las cosas que pasan detrás del lente de fotógrafos que admiro. Cómo trabajan, que inspiración obtienen de distintas cosas en su vida.

En la página del link verde de arriba, esta muy padre porque puedes navegar por las fotos y leer acerca de cada fotografía. Cómo y donde fueron tomadas. 

Other places I find behind the scenes footage from photo sessions is Vimeo. When I'm jumping from one video to another I usually find something about photographers. 

The cool thing about this photography fever that is rising non-stop is that big companies are spending a lot of time thinking about how to incorporate artists and young talent to their image, so they support them in a way. The Intel image ads, for example, have very cool people talking about their work: 
Otros lugares donde encuentro material acerca del proceso detrás de las sesiones de fotos es en Vimeo. Cuando salto de un video a otro, suelo encontrar cosas acerca de fotógrafos.
Lo mejor de ésta fiebre que aumenta y aumenta, hacia la fotografía, es que las grandes compañías estan invirtiendo su tiempo en pensar como incorporar artistas y talento joven a su imagen, así que en cierta forma los están apoyando. Los anuncios de Intel, por ejemplo, tienen a gente muy habil hablando acerca de su trabajo:

Different genre photographers work differently and I find their process fascinating. 

The coolest thing about photography videos, is how thin the line dividing video and photography has become, most times using the same cameras, the video about an art-form becomes an art-form in itself. They are really a joy to watch (:

Los fotografos de distintos géneros trabajan de maneras diferentes y me parece fascinante su proceso.

Lo mejor de éstos videos que tratan sobre la fotografía, es lo delgada que se ha vuelto la línea entre foto y video. La mayoria de las veces utilizan la misma cámara y un video acerca de un arte se vuelve un arte en si mismo.

I don´t usually write the kitchen day posts, but one of the things that I love about our blog, is that there are two of us. And when one of us can´t post for any reason the other can do it(: I think that´s a pretty awesome teamwork:p
So today I have to do the Kitchen day post. But instead of sharing with you a delicious recipie like Sandra usually does, I want to share with you something else. Something that I love, and that is:  kitchen spaces and things that inspire me(: 

Normalemnte yo no escribo los posts del Dia de cocina, pero una de las cosas que amo de nuestro blog, es que somos dos. Y cuando una de nosotras no puede escribir, por cualquier razón, la otra puede hacerlo en su lugar(: Creo que ese es un excelente trabajo en equipo:p

Everytime I look through old photographs, in books or magazines or when I see a period movie I try to guess what time they are set in, by the clothes, shoes and hairstyles. That's how I began making little drawings in my notebook of the same girl dressed through different eras (very Orlando), and I thought it would be fun to make a timeline made of shoes. I focused on shoes with heels, even though there are many iconic shoes that show off decade's style. I hope you enjoy it! (:

La línea del tiempo de zapatos

Siempre que veo fotografías viejas en revistas, libros o alguna película de época, intento adivinar de qué época es usando como pistas, la ropa, los zapatos y los peinados. Así fue como empecé a hacer pequeños dibujos en mis cuadernos de una misma niña vestida diferente a través de las eras (muy a la Orlando), y se me ocurrió que sería divertido hacer una linea del tiempo hecha con zapatos. Me concentré en zapatos de tacón aunque hay mucho que no tienen y son muy icónincos del estilo de cada década. Espero que les guste! (:

White over white

Blanco sobre blanco

Lately I´ve been obssesed with white, and I´ve been working with white over white on my recent pieces. So I thought It would be nice to show you some of my inspiration. These two japanese artists work with white. The first one, Odani Motohiko makes sculptures, video and photography. He combines human and organic forms and creates beautifully painful sculptures. The second one, Noriko Ambe, makes drawings and cuts paper by hand to attain beautiful organic and subtle pieces. I will write no more and let the images tell you the rest.

Ultimamente he estado obsesionada con el blanco, y he estado trabajando con blanco sobre blanco en mi obra más reciente. Así que pensé que seria lindo mostrarles un poco de mi inspiración. Éstos dos artistas japoneses trabajan con el blanco. El primero, Odani Motohiko, hace esculturas, video y fotografía. Combina formas humanas y orgánicas para crear esculturas hermosamente dolorosas. La segunga, Noriko Ambe, hace dibujos y cortes en papel a mano para lograr hermosas, organicas y sutiles piezas. No escribiré más y dejaré que las imágenes cuenten el resto.
