Corales y dorados

Hi everyone! We are very happy right now because we are dedicating a lot more time to The Ponycat Blog, and have many great things planned. But today we want to tell you something,  first of all thank you to everyone that follows us. We have more than a 100 subscribers on google and a few more at bloglovin and facebook, and a lot of them are english speakers, and we love having them and read them often. 
The other part of the news is that we are starting a youtube channel, but we are very sad to say  it will only be available in Spanish. We thought a lot about it, and we find it unfair but in the end we decided it was simply to difficult to make a bilingual channel. We may change our minds in the future depending on our followers and the blog, but not right now. 
But don't worry too much, we will continue with our regular bilingual posts here in the blog and we have a lot more content planned (:

Hemos regresado por fin al blog, con la intención de que esta vez se convierta de nuevo en algo constante. También decidimos crear un canal de youtube y empezar a subir videos. Esto es algo que habíamos estado pensando desde hace tiempo, y hasta hace unas semanas decidimos empezar. Y después de algunos problemas técnicos hicimos nuestro primer video tutorial de maquillaje (:

En el canal vamos a compartir videos de maquillaje, peinados, cocina, cosas que nos gustan, tutoriales muy bonitos y fáciles y muchas cosas que hemos estado planeando y pronto serán reveladas : p

Por ahora les dejo nuestro primer video tutorial de maquillaje, en donde intento vencer mi pena y hablar ante la cámara. Realmente fue un reto para mi, pero espero mejorar con el tiempo. Espero les guste un poco y les sea útil (;

Tuna Sandwich

Semana 1

Sandwich de atún

This sandwich takes less than five minutes to make and I love it. I used to make it for me and my friend when he lived alone in L.A. and would have only basic stuff in the kitchen, canned food, bread and cheese.

• A can of tuna (I mixed in worcestershire sauce, maggie, tajin (chili sauce and chili powder) and the juice of half a lemon
• Bread (toasted)
• Olives
• Cheese (I used mennonite cheese)
• Avocado

Este sandwich se puede hacer en menos de cinco minutos y sabe muy bien. Yo solía prepararlo en casa de un amigo cuando vivía en los ángeles (él), y sólo quedaban cosas enlatadas en su casa, pan y queso. 

• Una lata de atún (yo la mezcle con salsa inglesa, maggie, tajín, valentina y jugo de limón)
• Pan (tostado)
• Aceitunas
• Queso (yo use delicioso queso menonita)
• Aguacate

This is what I have to deal with whenever I open a can of tuna, every time I turned around Meimei was one step closer to the sandwich.

Esto es con lo que tengo que lidiar cada vez que abro una lata de atún. Cada vez que me volteaba Meimei estaba un paso más cerca de mi sandwich.

Tim Walker is my favorite photographer...maybe. 

A couple of years ago I ordered the book 'Tim Walker, Pictures' from TeNeues publishing, I didn't know that the book was huge and super heavy and made my grandfather carry it from NYC to Mexico, waiting in the airport with it and everything. I didn't do it on purpose of course! But I'm glad I did. It's my favorite picture book in the whole world and every time I see it I get inspired, to do more pictures, illustrations, I dream about making movies even.

Inside the book you'll find stuff from Walker's earliest works, stories from when he was a child along with sketches, collages and letters. I don't know how easy it is to find, or how expensive it is, but I wanted to share with you my afternoon activities. Leafing through the book with Melocoton and writing down things I don't want to forget, and drawing a little bit. 

I hope you already know Tim Walker's work, I've been thinking about making a blogpost about him, and my favorite pictures taken by him. Let me know what you think :)

Tim Walker es, tal vez, mi fotógrafo favorito. Hace un par de años pedí el libro Tim Walker, Pictures (de la editorial TeNeues) por internet, sin saber que era un libro gigante, super pesado y que venía con su propia caja, y se lo hice cargar a mi abuelo de Nueva York a aquí, en el aeropuerto y todo... Aunque fue sin querer y mi abuelo fue muy lindo por traérmelo, es lo mejor que me ha pasado. Es mi libro  de fotos favorito de todos los que tengo y lo veo una y otra vez para inspirarme para fotos, ilustraciones, sueños que tengo de hacer películas y lo que sea en realidad. 

Cuentan cosas de la vida de Tim Walker desde que era niño y enseñan desde sus primeras fotos, collages, sketches y cartas. No es fácil de conseguir y creo que estaba caro, pero quería compartirles un vistazo a mi tarde de viernes. Viendo el libro con Melocotón y dibujando y tomando notas para sesiones que quiero buscar completas y dibujos de cosas que no quiero olvidar.

No sé si conozcan a Tim Waler todos, puedo hacer un post de las fotos que más me gustan, no sé si sea buena idea :)

Do you know Marimekko? 

Until recently I didn't know what Marimekko was, I'd heard the name before I think.... but that was it.

But now I know it is a Finnish brand that was created around 1950 by Arni Ratia. Now a design company famous for their prints, fabrics and various objects. It started out small and grew expanding into different areas. It has had a rich history, I strongly recommend checking out their site, the "history" and "made in Finland" tabs have interesting details about the creation process and about the "Marimekko village" which is a one of a kind design utopia!

I wanted to share some images and the link to the website, because I found it very inspiring. They are obviously very defined by their work with color and pattern and I loved the catalogue and a lot of their pieces. I hope you like them :)

¿Conocen Marimekko? Hasta hace poco no conocía nada de Marimekko, sólo había escuchado el nombre pero no sabía que era.

Es una marca finlandesa, que crearon alrededor de 1950, fundada por Arni Ratia. Ahora es una compañía de diseño famosa por sus estampados, sus telas y distintos objetos. Empezó como algo más pequeño pero poco a poco fue abarcando diferentes areas. Su historia es interesante y fácil de leer, si les gustan sus cosas y les interesa les recomiendo que se metan a la página y vean las secciones de "historia" y "made in Finland" en donde enseñan fotos y hablan de los detalles de sus diseños, el proceso y la "Marimekko village"que es una especie de utopía del diseño.

Quería compartir algunas imagenes y el link al sitio porque me pareció muy bonito y me inspiraron mucho algunas de sus imagenes. Obviamente lo más llamativo de su trabajo son los colores y los patrones. Me gustó mucho el catalogo y muchas de sus piezas. Ojalá les gusten :)

DIY: Buttons in your hair

One of my favorite things to do in the world is to go to one of those craft stores where they have a bucket full of buttons, sorting through it and selecting beautiful buttons. I can really spend a lot  time doing this : p
I have many buttons and I often don't know what to do with them. So I thought it was time to use some of them, and so i thought of this little tutorial, hope you like it (;

Una de mis cosas favoritas de hacer en el mundo es ir a una de esas mercerías en donde tienen una tina llena de botones (10 x 3 pesos), sumergir mi mano y buscar botones hermosos. Puedo pasar realmente mucho tiempo haciendo eso : p

Tengo muchos botones y muchas veces no se ni que hacer con ellos, así que pensé que sería bueno darles un uso a algunos y así que pensé en hacer este pequeño y sencillo tutorial, espero les guste(;

  Lo que necesitan:

*Botones
*pasadores
*pistola de silicón

Select any button you like and glue it to the bobby pin. Done!

Toman el botón y lo pegan al pasador. ¡y listo! Más fácil no se puede : p

My favorite fruit smoothie

Mi licuado de frutas favorito

I usually have some fruit for breakfast, but a super easy and yummy way to mix it up a bit, is by making an easy smoothie. The one I make the most is this one:

You will need

.A cup of freshly squeezed orange juice

.A banana

.Some berries (here I'm using frozen strawberries and the oranges are also cold ;), I normally use strawberries or mixed berries - blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries - 

Normalmente como fruta en las mañanas, pero hay días en que prefiero variar un poco y hacer un licuado que me toma cinco minutos y es delicioso. Mi favorito es este:

Para hacerlo necesitas:

.Un vaso de jugo de naranja fresco

.Un platano

.Moras o fresas, aquí estoy usando fresas congeladas y como las naranjas también están frias el licuado queda a la temperatura ideal ;) Pero a veces uso una mezcla de moras que son zarzamoras, blueberries, frambuesas y fresas.

Mix it all in a blender and this super delicious smoothie is ready to drink :D 

Lo licúas todo junto y listo :D

It's friday, yay! I'm so happy(: I made lots of cupcakes, some to sell at Celoffán and some to take to my sister's birthday party tonight. But before I go I wanted to share a little wishlist of things I found this past week. Hope you like these pretty things, I really do! I want them all <3

Es viernes, ¡yey! Estoy muy feliz. Hoy hornee muchos cupcakes, algunos para vender en Celoffán y otros para llevar hoy en la noche a la fiesta de cumpleaños de mi hermana.
