Flickr Oriental Legendario.

One of my favorite things to find in other blogs is good flickr recommendations, so I decided to share some of my favorite flickr photographers today. I follow many photographers, which I have found through different blogs or jumping from one flickr stream to another. 

Una de mis cosas favoritas, es encontrar buenas recomendaciones de flickrs en blogs, así que decidí compartir algunos de mis fotógrafos favoritos. Sigo a muchos fotógrafos, que he encontrado a través de distintos blogs o yendo de un stream de flickr a otro. 

This is a small selection of some of my favorite Asian flickr photographers. Even though they are very different from one another, they share qualities (like spontaneity, clothing style and sometimes lighting), that I admire very much and don't often find in American or European photoblogs. 

If you like them I'm sure they'd appreciate some positive feedback if you have a flickr account ;)

Ésta es una pequeña selección de algunos de mis fotografos asiaticos favoritos en flickr. A pesar de que son muy diferentes entre ellos, comparten algunas cualidades (como la espontaneidad, el estilo al vestir y a veces la iluminación), que admiro mucho y no encuentro comunmente en fotoblogs americanos o europeos.

I love this image, it's so inspiring, I find it absolutely beautiful, I would buy a print in a heartbeat.

I hope you enjoy this beautiful photographs as much as I, the dreamy and slightly surreal quality of this images makes me want to improve my photographs daily.

Okonomiyaki

The word literally means okonomi: what you like, yaki: grill, so something like whatever you like grilled.

My wonderful Japanese teacher taught me how to make this and prepared it so I could take the photos for this post. 

If you have never tried Okonomiyaki, you really don't know what you're missing, it is very versatile and absolutely delicious. In Japan it's a very communal type of food, you mix the ingredients and grill it on a tabletop griddle. 

La palabra significa literalmente okonomi: lo que te guste, yaki: asar, así que vendría siendo algo como lo que te guste asado. Mi maravillosa maestra de japonés me enseño como prepararlo y me ayudo a tomar las fotos para éste post. 

Si nunca has probado el Okonomiyaki, no sabes de lo que te pierdes, es super versatil y delicioso. En Japón es una comida que suele comerse en compañía, y suelen ponerte los ingredientes y tú los mezclas y los calientas en una parrilla que tienes en tu mesa.

I love to see what´s inside other people bags, I am a snoop, I know.... So in case you are a little curious like me:p I decided to share with you what´s inside my craft bag. I carry this bag (almost) everywhere I go, I got it from a friend at school that sells them and I love it(;

Me encanta ver que hay adentro de las bolsas de otras personas, soy una chismosa, lo se... En caso de que alguien sea un poco curioso como yo:p decidí enseñar lo que llevo adentro de mi bolsa de manualidades. 6.- Whatever Im crocheting at the time. In this case an Earl Grey bunny(: (Yes, every creature I make its named after some flavor)

Lo que sea que esté tejiendo en el momento. En este caso un conejito de Earl Grey(: (si, todos los monitos que hago tienen nombres de algun sabor)

7.- My little portable little box of music(: or in other words, an Ipod shuffle:p

Mi pequeña cajita de música portatil. Osea, un Ipod shuffle:p

8.- Adhesive tape. Because you never know when you will need  it(;

Cinta adhesiva. Porque nunca se sabe cuando lo puedes necesitar(;

9.- Pretty nail polish.

13.- Sunglasses. I got them from my grandmother, they are a little big but I love them(:

One of the recipes I have wanted to try for a long time, is the green tea cake recipe. This particular cake is a combination with an opera cake, resulting in a pretty fancy treat.

Una de las recetas que he querido intentar desde hace mucho, es la del pastel de té verde. Éste pastel en particular, esta combinado con un pastel Opera, y el resultado es un postre bastante coqueto.

This vintage, or at least vintage looking ring makes me want to get serious about wearing jewelry.

 Everyone's seen it, everyone talks about it, I know, but the Kate Moss's wedding dress is so beautiful it was one of the first things that came to mind when I was looking for white things.

The fox, for me, is one of the most beautiful animals on earth, and Arctic foxes have such an enchanting beauty they make want to paint them, photograph them and touch them and beg them to just let me watch them in their daily life :p When I saw the pictures posted by 3lambsstudio, taken from an article of the guardian, I felt my heart break thinking about the possible extinction they face. I hope their picture inspires you to do something good for yourself or for the world (: 

El zorro es uno de los animales más bellos en la tierra, a mi parecer, y los zorros árticos tienen una belleza tan encantadora que me hacen querer pintarlos, fotografiarlos y tocarlos y pedirles que me dejen observarlos mientras llevan a cabo sus actividade cotidianas :p Cuando vi éstas fotos, tomadas de un articulo de the guardian, sentí mi corazon romberse pensando en la posible extinción a la que se enfrentan. I recently wrote a post about illustration (you can read it here if your want :), and talking about it with Mila, I came to the conclusion that even though I don't feel too comfortable yet, I should show a little of the things I do aside from photography. 

Recientemente escribí un post sobre ilustración (si quieres lo puedes leer aquí :), y hablando de ello con Mila, llegué a la conclusión de que debo de enseñar, aunque todavía no me sienta muy cómoda, algunas de las cosas que hago a parte de la fotografía. 

So here they are, these are some engravings and etchings I have been making:

I have been working with acrylic, metal and a plastic called trovicel. This are my first attempts and I enjoy making them very much, except the metal one because preparing the plate is horrible :p In fact I hate almost every part of the engraving process except engraving, putting the ink and printing. Everything else, from making the borders to cleaning, I profoundly hate. I am not proud of it, but the rest of the process I love so much it is totally worth it. 

He estado trabajando en acrílico, metal y un plastico que se llama trovicel. Estos son mis primeros intentos y he disfrutado mucho haciendolos, excepto el de metal porque preparar la placa fue horrible :p De hecho odio casi todo el proceso de grabar, excepto grabar con la punta, entintar e imprimir. Todo lo que resta del proceso, desde hacer los bordes hasta limpiar, lo odio profundamente. No estoy orgullosa, pero el resto del proceso me gusta tanto, que vale la pena. 

I have been in love with the art of print for a very long time, one of the best teachers I have ever had is a master engraver and print-maker. I haven't dedicated a lot of time to the discipline, (Carmila has some great work that I want her to share here as well), but I think it is a precious and beautiful art form. 

Most of the print teachers I've known, have told me, that at some point the lost their faith in printmaking for some time, and are afraid that it will disappear soon. But I think they are wrong, in Etsy for example, and in contests, I have seen great works and if I am ever able to buy art I will support engraving and etching for sure! 

He estado enamorada del arte del grabado por mucho tiempo, uno de los mejores maestros que he tenido es un magnífico grabador. No he dedicado mucho tiempo a esta diciplina, (Carmila tiene unos trabajos muy buenos que quiero que comparta por aquí tambien), pero creo que es una técnica muy rica y hermosa. 

Muchos de los maestros de grabado que he conocido, me han dicho, que en algun momento han llegado a perder la fe en el grabado, y temen que desaparezca pronto. Pero pienso que se equivocan en Etsy por ejemplo y en concursos, he visto trabajos buenísimos y si algun día puedo comprar arte apoyaré al grabado!

Last week I shared a little about the process behind this photoshoot in this post. 

I had the concept on my mind for several weeks before Carmila and I had any time to actually do it. But when we finally did it it was a complete success if I say so myself (: We took little time to get what we wanted and I think I got a little of the feeling I was trying to show, and also the many youtube make-up tutorials I've watched finally paid off :p

La semana pasada compartí un poco del proceso detrás de ésta sesión de fotos en éste  post. 

Tuve la idea dando vueltas en mi mente por varias semanas, antes de que Carmila y yo tuvieramos tiempo de hacerla. Pero cuando por fin lo logramos creo que fue un exito, si puedo decirlo yo misma (: Nos tardamos poco en obtener lo que queríamos y creo que pude expresar un poco del sentimiento que quería transmitir; y también, todos los videos de maquillaje que he visto en youtube por fin sirvieron para algo :p
