Tim Walker

I wrote about Tim Walker a couple of posts ago and I thought I'd share some of my favorite pictures of his. His photographs are like dreams, and I admire him greatly, he makes me want to look for great things to photograph and I'm impressed everytime I see the things he liked as a boy, we have a very similar taste and interest in things like abandoned places, iconography, a similar view of beauty. I'm not comparing myself with him o hahaha! I don't mean it to sound that way at all, it just makes me very happy to see his work. Every time. 

Después de mi micro post sobre mi libro de Tim Walker me comentaron que algunas personas no conocían su trabajo y les gustaría ver un post de algunas de mis fotos favoritas tomadas por él. ¡Espero que les gusten! Intenté no hacer el post muy largo, pero si les gustan les recomiendo buscar mal porque tiene muchísimo trabajo que vale muchísimo la pena.

Sus fotografías son como sueños y siempre que las veo me impresiona como tengo la misma idea de belleza que él y una fijación por algunos elementos que aparecen en muchas de sus fotos, lugares abandonados por ejemplo, iconografía, los colores, la repetición... No me estoy comparando con él por supuesto. Es sólo que cuando veo sus apuntes y dibujos me hace sentir ganas de tomar mejores fotos y buscar cosas en todos lados. Siempre.

Five Small Things That Made Me Happy.

Cinco cosas que alegraron mi semana.

There were many good things that happened to me this week, I ran into some friends I hadn't seen in a while, birthdays, there was cake, good movies, but I took pictures of five small things that made me happy this week:

Hubo buenas cosas esta semana, me encontré con unos amigos que no veía desde hace mucho, hubo cumpleaños, pastel, buenas películas, pero tomé fotos de 5 cosas en particular que me hicieron feliz esta semana:

My favorite cake in the whole world: Tangerine cake, made by aunt :)

Mi pastel favorito: Pastel de Mandarina, o pastel de Mandaringrid como yo le digo porque lo hace mi tía y se llama Ingrid :p

 My new necklaces from MyMi designs, I bought the one on the left which was taken from a real door! And Diego gave me the one of the right :D that's Spanish for 'Meow' of course!

Mis collares de MyMi diseños, conozco al diseñador que además es fotógrafo y me gustaron mucho sus piezas, el de la izquierda lo compré yo y lo sacaron de una puerta de verdad :D Y el de la derecha me lo regalo diego y me encanta ♥ Entren a su pag de facebook para ver sus demás piezas

 Diego and I got matching bracelets! I know it's cheesy but the bracelets are super pretty and apparently they're bronze. I also like our socks ha!

Diego y yo compramos pulseras iguales, es cursi ¡pero están muy bonitas ! Y aparentemente son de bronce.

I love when Melocoton falls asleep with his tongue sticking out a little bit :p

Me gusta cuando Melocotón se queda dormido con la lengua de fuera :p

This cat is so cute he looks a little bit unreal.

Este gato esta tan lindo que siento que no parece un gato de verdad.

Some people may think it's rather pointless to do a last month review half a month late, but I much prefer to do it a little late than not do it at all :) So here it is, random things I enjoyed on the month of June:

 I've always loved pizza, but from mid-June to about a week ago I've had a lot of pizza and my favorite ones are the ones pictured here from "Il trovatore" (if you want to follow me on instagram my name is melocotonki :)

Siempre me ha encantado la pizza, pero a partir de mediados de junio, hasta hace como una semana he comido mucha mucha pizza. Mis favoritas son las de la foto de arriba del restaurante "Il trovatore" (si quieres seguirme en instagram me llamo  melocotonki :)

Next are my favorite movies, I wanted to choose a new and an old movie like I did last month, but I have a terrible memory can't remember a new movie I loved so I chose to old ones:

I saw this movie for the first time when I was in NYC but the theater messed the projection and totally ruined the ending. I had the chance to watch it again in a theater here in Mexico almost twice (the second time the projection was awful! We walked out of the movie). Anyways I love this film, I don't recommend it for people who only like light films or blockbusters, it is slow paced, but the plot is amazing, the photography is superb, the performances are great and I love it all.

La primera vez que vi esta película fue en Nueva York, me gustó mucho pero arruinaron la proyección en el último momento y nos arruinaron el final. Hace poco la pude ver aquí en Cuernavaca pero en el cine Morelos que todo se ve terrible (de hecho fui dos veces y la segunda me tuve que salir porque todo estaba fuera de foco y el las escenas del principio no se apreciaba nada):  En fin, me encanta esra película, no la recomiendo para gente que sólo acostumbre ver películas ligeras y casuales, es lenta, pero la trama es buenísima, la fotografía es maravillosa, me encantá la actuación y me fascina todo.

I saw this when it first  came out but I didn't remember much. I like most of Spielberg films (except A.I. which I hate), and this one was not an exception, I enjoyed it very much, it's so much fun. And it's based on a true story, I didn't know that.
Vi por primera vez esta película cuando salió en el cine, pero no me acordaba de casi nada. Me gustan la mayoría de las películas de Spielberg (menos I.A., esa la odio), y esta no fue la excepción, me gustó y la disfruté mucho. Y esta basada en una historia real. No sabía eso.

I've been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd this month, and I listened to the self-titled Audioslave album for the first time. It was strange because I've heard the songs on their own many times but I love it as an album so much more.
And also I've been listening to this song a lot, I keep singing it when I shower :p

Este mes he escuchado mucho Pink Floyed, y también escuché el cd "Audioslave" por primera vez. Es raro porque ya había oído las canciones por separado muchas veces, pero me gusta mucho más el disco completo.

También he escuchado mucho esta canción, se me pega y la canto cuando me baño :p

 

I actually don't have a favorite blog this month (which is strange!) because I've been watching a lot of youtube channels and lost track of time. 

 This month I also chose this haircut for my cute boyfriend (here pictured in a gas station with the retro charrito from the gas days of yore), and he re-taught me how to drive, this past week I've been driving alone everyday without crashing or killing anyone, just had to turned it on a couple of times when I was on a traffic light uphill ;)

Este mes también escogí este corte de pelo para mi lindo novio (aquí en una foto con el charrito pemex de antaño), y él me ha estado re-enseñando a manejar. Esta última semana he manejado sola todos los días sin chocar ni matar a nadie, sólo se me ha apagado un par de veces en un semaforo en una subida ;)

May Review!

¡Reseña de mayo! 

This is not a real review, because if I were to review May I would have to include a few things I didn't like so much. But I'm trying to keep it positive haha, we'll see if next month I'm feeling a little more demanding with my choices ;)

Esta no es una reseña en realidad, porque para hacer una reseña de mayo debería mencionar las cosas que no me gustaron, pero como quiero ser positiva voy a decir puras cosas que me gustaron, ya veremos si el próximo mes me siento más exigente ;)

This month Diego is teaching me how to drive (I learned a while ago but I hadn't practiced in years), and that brings me to the first thing,

A braided bread with sugar glaze, it is super cheap, and I bought it in a real bakery (there are not many left in my town!) that I re-descovered during my driving lessons, getting there was a real challenge!

Una coronita de pan trenzada con glaseado de azucar, es super barata (cuesta como 5 pesos) y es de una panadería de verdad! (y ya no quedan muchas panaderías reales), la redescubrí durante mis clases de manejo, fue un reto llegar :S

I saw it in the movie theater when it first came out, but I had managed to forget all the details in the last 6 years, and seeing that I love Christopher Nolan's films I had to see it again. I now love it and need to buy it immediately :p  And also, how cool is it that he co-wrote it with his brother?

La vi en el cine cuando salió pero en estos 6 años me las arreglé para olvidarme de todos los detalles de la película, y como me gustan mucho todas las películas de Christopher Nolan decidí volver a verla. Ahora me encanta y me la tengo que comprar inmediatamente :p Y además, no es lo máximo que la co-escribió con su hermano??

Autumn de Wilde, if you don't already know her, she is an American photographer known from her work with musicians, famous people and fashion. I love her pictures for Rodarte and her imagery in general, her tumblr is super fun and updated regularly :)

Seven Spoons

Everytime I see a new recipe or photograph on Seven Spoons' blog I want to cry a little bit, they are such beautiful photographs and everything looks so yummy. This June I'm finally going to try a few.

Cada vez que veo una foto o una receta nueva en Seven Spoons quiero llorar un poquito, me gustan muchisimo, todo se ve hermoso y delicioso. Ahora en junio por fin voy a hacer algunas recetas a ver que tal.

I'm still pretty smitten with Bon Iver (my boyfriend gave me the Bon Iver, Bon Iver. cd as a gift :), and these two songs I can listen to non stop.

One of my favorite things to find in other blogs is good flickr recommendations, so I decided to share some of my favorite flickr photographers today. I follow many photographers, which I have found through different blogs or jumping from one flickr stream to another. 

Una de mis cosas favoritas, es encontrar buenas recomendaciones de flickrs en blogs, así que decidí compartir algunos de mis fotógrafos favoritos. Sigo a muchos fotógrafos, que he encontrado a través de distintos blogs o yendo de un stream de flickr a otro. 

This is a small selection of some of my favorite Asian flickr photographers. Even though they are very different from one another, they share qualities (like spontaneity, clothing style and sometimes lighting), that I admire very much and don't often find in American or European photoblogs. 

If you like them I'm sure they'd appreciate some positive feedback if you have a flickr account ;)

Ésta es una pequeña selección de algunos de mis fotografos asiaticos favoritos en flickr.
