Corona Capital 2013

El año pasado no fui al Corona y me gustó leer lo que pensaron los demás al respecto y el año antepasado si fui y también me gustó leer lo que los demás pensaban ja! Así que decidí poner lo que vi y lo que pensé. 

I went to Corona Capital, a music festival this past weekend.

Cuando las cabezas de las demás niñas veía coronas de flores falsas, lentes de sol (muchos redondos) y pelo suelto y ondulado, y de repente algunos chongos.

I saw a lot of fake flower headbands, a lot of sunglasses, mostly round sunglasses and loose wavy hair. 

Y cuando me agaché o me senté en el piso, vi shorts, legging tribales (como pantalones u_u) con tenis de tela y más shorts, todos muy cortos y muchos con los bolsillos asomandose, la mayoría combinados con botas. Vi muchas camisetas cortadas o transparentes con bras y tops neon. 

And whenever I kneeled or sat on the floor I saw shorts everywhere, denim cutoffs, pastel colored, black and most of them paired with boots. The girls thad weren't wearing shorts wore a lot of tribal leggings as pants... with fabric sneakers. And I saw a lot of see-through and cutout shirts with neon bras and tops underneath. 

No quiero sonar malagradecida pero no me gusta el Corona fest, nunca me ha gustado y nunca me gustará. La razón por la que voy es que me hay grupos que me gustan mucho y no los he podido ver fuera del Corona o hay grupos que no sé si quiero ver solos y es una buena oportunidad para verlos en vivo. 

Justo cuando estaba más harta de todo (de las aguas de 500ml por $30 pesos, los baños espantosos que tenemos que aguantar después de que 140 mil personas pagaron más de 600 pesos, y la gente y la gente y la geeente), y no recordaba porque me gustan los conciertos salió Phoenix e hizo que todo valiera la pena. Es tal vez uno de los mejores conciertos que he visto en general, no sólo en el Corona. 

Me encantó como tocaban, las cosas que no me imaginaba mucho en vivo - por ser muy electrónicas más que nada, no sabía como las traducirían al escenario - me encantaron, me encantó todo. La gente estaba muy atenta y feliz, y ellos también.  Me gustó su fondo y lloré de la emoción casi al final.

Y antes de ese día Phoenix no era de mis grupos favoritos. 

I'm not one for big festivals, I don't like the restrooms, the hundreds of thousands of people and the over expensive food, but Phoenix made everything EVERYTHING worth it. I was truly impressed.

También vi muchos otros grupos y me sorpendió mucho Jake Bugg y me gustó Vampire Weekend, los momentos que pude ignorar a tanta gente y su lindo fondo floral . Me gustó Sigur Ros, menospreciado porque pusieron Arctic Monkeys al mismo tiempo, me gustó mucho White Lies y se me hizo curioso Deadmau5. Y no me gustaron varios, pero no hablaré de eso :p

I also liked Jake Bugg a lot and the rest of the festival had highs (Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, White Lies) and lows.

And I had orange lipstick on.

¡Y el segundo día me puse tenis! Jaja esto no debe significar nada para quien no me conozca, pero los que me conocen bien saben que hace más de diez años que no me compro unos tenis y normalmente se me hacen muy feos y cuando finalmente me decidí porque el dolor de pies era demasiado nunca los compraba porque los tenis buenos son carísimos. Pero finalmente lo hice y hasta se me hacen bonitos. 

And I wore sneakers! This is a real first for me, I haven't had sneakers in ten years, I don't really like them (these ones I find cute though), and they are super expensive. But I finally did it and they are com-for-ta-ble.

January: For the past month I have had a few new favorite things and here is a little list of them :)

Enero: El mes pasado adquirí algunos favoritos nuevos. Esta es mi lista para el mes de enero :) 

1. My Favorite new movies from January were Lincoln, Hitchcock and Elles with Juliette Binoche. Anna Karenina has not been premiered yet here in Mexico and I'm getting a bit anxious about it, to be honest, it's been a good six months since it premiered in Europe! But I will try to be patient, I desperately want to see it on the big screen.

And my favorite not-new movie was Beginners, which I just watched again, and is among my favorite movies, ever. Probably. It's just so perfect.

1.Mis películas nuevas favoritas este mes de enero fueron, Lincoln, Hitchcock y Elles con Juliette Binoche.  He estado esperando no tan pacientemente el estreno de Anna Karenina, porque la estrenaron hace ya seis meses en Europa y odiaría no poderla ver en el cine. Pero hace poco sacaron un corto en Cinépolis y eso renovó un poco mis esperanzas.

 Y mi película no-nueva, favrita del mes es Beginners, la acabo de volver a ver y está entre mis películas favoritas de toda la vida. Probablemente. Me sorprende que bonita y bien hecha está.

2. My favorite album of the month has been Sam's Town from The Killers, along with Saw Dust. I know these are not new, but I have tickets for their concert in April and I'm getting more and more excited, and those two albums are my favorite Killers' albums, specially Sam's town. (I love the art of the album :)

2. Mi disco favorito del mes fue Sam's Town de The Killers, también Saw Dust. Sé que estos discos no son nuevos para nada, pero tengo boletos para su concierto en abril y estoy cada vez más emocionada. Esos dos discos son mis favoritos (más Sam's Town) y me encanta la foto en el cd.

3. My favorite blogger this month is actually a youtuber, and it's Jenn Im from Clothes Encounters . I love watching her videos. She does fashion and style videos mostly, and even though I would never dress like her and she and I don't have similar styles at all, I enjoy watching all of her videos. It may have something to do with how soothing her voice is and I think she is super beautiful, and it makes me a little nostalgic, reminds me of the 90s in some weird dreamy way.

3. Mi blog favorito este mes es más bien un canal de youtube, Clothes Encounters con Jenn Im. Me encantan sus videos. Hace más que nada videos de moda y estilo, y a pesar de que no es nada mi estilo y jamás me vestiría como ella se viste, disfruto mucho verla. Tal vez es porque tiene una voz muy agradable o es muy bonita, pero también siento como una especie de nostalgia, me recuerda un poco a programas que me gustaban de los 90s o algo así.

4. The food I've been craving the most during this past month has been nutella crepes with blackberry jam or bananas.  And incidentally that will be my next recipe on Kitchen Day :)

5. I am currenty finishing a book I started last year, and interrupted, so my favorite book this month is actually a picture book. Taschen's Klimt, which my mom gave me as a Christmas present, and I love it, currently I am fascinated with this painting, called the goldfish:

5.Actualmente estoy leyendo un libro que empece hace casi cuatro meses, porque lo interrumpí y leí dos libros en medio. Así que mi libro favorito de este mes es de arte y es un libro de Klimt que me regaló mi mamá de navidad y me fascina esta pintura, se llama peces dorados:

6. My most used nail polishes in January were mostly in this palette, very pale or deep wine, I am currently wearing Revlon's Apricot Pastry. It looks very nice on the nails but smells terrible, kind of a peachy bubblegum smell on top of the nail polish smell, it's really gruesome. But once you have the top coat on the smell goes away phew!

6. Mis barnices de uñas más usados este mes han estado dentro de esta paleta y todos son muy palidos o vinos oscuros. En las uñas tengo Apricot Pasty de Revlon. Se ve muy lindo y me encanta el color, pero huele asqueroso, como si hubieran puesto un olor a durazno falso, como de chicle, encima del olor del barniz, es horrible. Pero una vez que le pones una capa transparente arriba se va el olor ¡fiuf!

Los brochecitos que traigo en el pelo también fueron un regalo de navidad y me encantan. Se pueden ver un poquito en la foto.

7.  Maybelline Baby Lips in cherry something :p It's a tinted lip balm with a faint smell of cherry. I love it and wear it everyday, I took a picture so I could show the color, but to be honest it came out weird and kind of sexual haha because my mouth was open in the photo haha :p 

7. Baby Lips de Maybelline, en el color Cherry... algo :p Es un bálsamo con color y huele un poquito a cereza. Me encanta, lo uso diario. Tomé una foto de como se ve el color puesto pero no la subí porque salió terrible, rara y sexual o algo así porque tengo la boca abierta en la foto jajaja :p

 

8. My favorite clothing items have been my Bob Dylan grey T-shirt and my tweedy jacket, it looks like a posh lady's sweater, which I love! ha. Both of them were Christmas presents from my boyfriend. Both are from Pull & Bear.

8.  Mis prendas favoritas han sido mi camiseta de Bob Dylan gris y mi chamarra/sueter como de tweed que parece sueter de señora, y por eso me encanta jaja. Las dos fueron regalos de navidad de mi novio y son de Pull & Bear.

9.  Favorite photograph. I watch tons of pictures everyday, so this is very hard to know, but this picture definitely caught my eye and every time I see it I think "wow!"

9. Mi foto favorita. Veo muchas fotos todo el tiempo así que no sé si es mi foto favorita de verdad, pero sé que desde que la vi llamó mucho mi atención.

I saw this movie for the first time when I was in NYC but the theater messed the projection and totally ruined the ending. I had the chance to watch it again in a theater here in Mexico almost twice (the second time the projection was awful! We walked out of the movie). Anyways I love this film, I don't recommend it for people who only like light films or blockbusters, it is slow paced, but the plot is amazing, the photography is superb, the performances are great and I love it all.

La primera vez que vi esta película fue en Nueva York, me gustó mucho pero arruinaron la proyección en el último momento y nos arruinaron el final. Hace poco la pude ver aquí en Cuernavaca pero en el cine Morelos que todo se ve terrible (de hecho fui dos veces y la segunda me tuve que salir porque todo estaba fuera de foco y el las escenas del principio no se apreciaba nada):  En fin, me encanta esra película, no la recomiendo para gente que sólo acostumbre ver películas ligeras y casuales, es lenta, pero la trama es buenísima, la fotografía es maravillosa, me encantá la actuación y me fascina todo.

I saw this when it first  came out but I didn't remember much. I like most of Spielberg films (except A.I. which I hate), and this one was not an exception, I enjoyed it very much, it's so much fun. And it's based on a true story, I didn't know that.
Vi por primera vez esta película cuando salió en el cine, pero no me acordaba de casi nada. Me gustan la mayoría de las películas de Spielberg (menos I.A., esa la odio), y esta no fue la excepción, me gustó y la disfruté mucho. Y esta basada en una historia real. No sabía eso.

I've been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd this month, and I listened to the self-titled Audioslave album for the first time. It was strange because I've heard the songs on their own many times but I love it as an album so much more.
And also I've been listening to this song a lot, I keep singing it when I shower :p

Este mes he escuchado mucho Pink Floyed, y también escuché el cd "Audioslave" por primera vez. Es raro porque ya había oído las canciones por separado muchas veces, pero me gusta mucho más el disco completo.

También he escuchado mucho esta canción, se me pega y la canto cuando me baño :p

 

I actually don't have a favorite blog this month (which is strange!) because I've been watching a lot of youtube channels and lost track of time. 

 This month I also chose this haircut for my cute boyfriend (here pictured in a gas station with the retro charrito from the gas days of yore), and he re-taught me how to drive, this past week I've been driving alone everyday without crashing or killing anyone, just had to turned it on a couple of times when I was on a traffic light uphill ;)

Este mes también escogí este corte de pelo para mi lindo novio (aquí en una foto con el charrito pemex de antaño), y él me ha estado re-enseñando a manejar. Esta última semana he manejado sola todos los días sin chocar ni matar a nadie, sólo se me ha apagado un par de veces en un semaforo en una subida ;)

May Review!

¡Reseña de mayo! 

This is not a real review, because if I were to review May I would have to include a few things I didn't like so much. But I'm trying to keep it positive haha, we'll see if next month I'm feeling a little more demanding with my choices ;)

Esta no es una reseña en realidad, porque para hacer una reseña de mayo debería mencionar las cosas que no me gustaron, pero como quiero ser positiva voy a decir puras cosas que me gustaron, ya veremos si el próximo mes me siento más exigente ;)

A braided bread with sugar glaze, it is super cheap, and I bought it in a real bakery (there are not many left in my town!) that I re-descovered during my driving lessons, getting there was a real challenge!

Una coronita de pan trenzada con glaseado de azucar, es super barata (cuesta como 5 pesos) y es de una panadería de verdad! (y ya no quedan muchas panaderías reales), la redescubrí durante mis clases de manejo, fue un reto llegar :S

I saw it in the movie theater when it first came out, but I had managed to forget all the details in the last 6 years, and seeing that I love Christopher Nolan's films I had to see it again. I now love it and need to buy it immediately :p  And also, how cool is it that he co-wrote it with his brother?

La vi en el cine cuando salió pero en estos 6 años me las arreglé para olvidarme de todos los detalles de la película, y como me gustan mucho todas las películas de Christopher Nolan decidí volver a verla. Ahora me encanta y me la tengo que comprar inmediatamente :p Y además, no es lo máximo que la co-escribió con su hermano??

Seven Spoons

Everytime I see a new recipe or photograph on Seven Spoons' blog I want to cry a little bit, they are such beautiful photographs and everything looks so yummy. This June I'm finally going to try a few.

Cada vez que veo una foto o una receta nueva en Seven Spoons quiero llorar un poquito, me gustan muchisimo, todo se ve hermoso y delicioso. Ahora en junio por fin voy a hacer algunas recetas a ver que tal.

I'm still pretty smitten with Bon Iver (my boyfriend gave me the Bon Iver, Bon Iver. cd as a gift :), and these two songs I can listen to non stop.
